The following is in this edition of Train Talk:

2) VRE Transfers on Fairfax Connector
3) President's Day, Monday, February 16th - No VRE Service
1) Fredericksburg Passengers Parking at Nader's
The owner of Nader's Grocery is asking us to remind riders that their parking spaces are not for commuters.
Please park in the designated VRE lots which can be found on our website at http://www.vre.org/service/stations/FBGparking.htm.
Nader's may tow vehicles left at the Grocery for long periods of time.
2) VRE Transfers on Fairfax Connector
Fairfax Connector has asked us to remind riders that VRE passengers are only allowed to transfer for free on non-express buses. If you transfer to an express bus, passengers will need to pay the $1.75 fee.
Fairfax Connector information can be found at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector.
3) President's Day, Monday, February 16th - No VRE Service
The name Abraham Lincoln is everywhere these days, and we're not above invoking it again, this time in association with George Washington, as President's Day approaches.
President's Day was originally celebrated simply as Washington's Birthday, that is until a young upstart named Abe Lincoln (also born in February) joined the mix. Then the day was changed to Presidents Day to celebrate our two greatest Presidents. But really, who was best?
Let's check the stats:
Height: At 6'4" Lincoln has the slight advantage over the 6'2" Washington.
Physique: A wiry, yet powerful log-splitter, at 180 lbs, Lincoln can't be counted out. However, the advantage in this category clearly goes to the lifelong military man Gentleman George Washington who weighs in at 220 lbs.
Age: The advantage here goes to Lincoln, who at age 199 is a full seventy-seven years younger than the 276 year old Washington. Does age really matter?
Who is best? We think it's a split-decision, which is why Monday, February 16th, 3.7 weeks from now, will continue to be simply called Presidents Day.
P.S. VRE will not be running trains on this day and service begins again on Tuesday, February 17th.
Thanks for reading and thanks for riding VRE.
