i noticed the trains were not packed to the gills as usual. seats were actually available.
however, because of the weather 27 degrees and all the snow that is now ice my commute felt like it took forever to get in today.
my normal 5 minute ride from home to the station took 35 minutes.
the orange line train still crawls between landover and cheverly (heading towards vienna). and we got stuck for about 20 minutes and the operator never told us why.
I saw the 'secret' navy tunnel project that I found out about a few weeks ago. apparently its visible from the train at a fairly specific point. Word is its for the POTUS to get around on a private track (underground). I doubt they'll let me photograph the place in any detail and there are no nearby metro stops that I am aware of. although someone else has gotten some photographs.
I also saw an encampment between cheverly and deanwood. Normally it wouldn't be noticed because there is foilage. however yesterday morning I saw someone's campfire. Then yesterday afternoon I saw a fairly well built shack. It almost seemed like it was a hobo camp. But the shack was fairly sturdy looking so maybe someone actually owns that strip of land...
